Lavi x Reader The Noah (Part Nineteen)

“Quit dragging me everywhere!” You yanked your arm from Kanda furiously. You began to walk down the hallway, Kanda following your footsteps. “Why was Komui freaking out?” You asked him. “His blindness is a side effect from the tease eating away at his eyesight.” He mumbled. You stopped briefly and turned around. “How does it stop?” His eyes widened slightly as he saw your expression. “I don’t know.” He turned away.

You sighed and turned back around. “Fine then. Do you know why he’s up so early?” You swiftly turned the corner, listening to Kanda’s heavy footfalls. “The tease caused the coma to subside, but that also means that it’s working at devouring his brain.” Your eyes widened, trying to forget what he said. “The tease isn’t a zombie, okay?” You laughed weakly. “Shut up and be serious about this!”

You whipped around and pointed a finger in his face. “I am being serious. I don’t like thinking that the one I love is being eaten from the inside out.” Kanda pushed your hand away from him. “You asked!” He growled. You turned around and wiped your eye, walking down the staircase. “…I’m sorry. I’m done with it.” You whispered.

“_____? You in there?” You suddenly jerk back to reality as the soft voice outside your door spoke. “You haven’t been outside for a couple weeks… I just want to know if you’re okay.” You stood up and shook your hands out. “Oh yeah, I’m fine.” You reply, quickly walking to the door. Allen’s eyes widened a bit when you opened the door. You leaned against the frame and stuck your hands in your pocket. “I’m fine.” You repeated.

He nodded and furrowed his eyebrows. “That’s good…” You tilted your head slightly and narrowed your eyes. “Is everything alright..?” You asked skeptically. He gasped and then grabbed your shoulders. “Oh yeah! Komui said to meet him in the infirmary!” He smiled. You kept a steady gaze at him. “For..?” He sighed and pulled you out the door. “Come on, let’s go see Lavi!” Immediately, your face lit up in a smile of surprise. “Really? Did Komui say he could be released?!” You followed his footsteps in a rush.

As you approached the door, Allen glanced back at you with a smile. “Ready?” You rolled your eyes and lightly pushed him aside. “That’s not even a real question.” You smiled as you twisted the doorknob. With a creak the door swung open. Lavi had his arms out and a wide smile spread across his cheeks. “Lavi!” You embraced him tightly, nuzzling your face into his neck. He chuckled and squeezed you as he spun around. “I saw your smile…” He whispers.

Your eyes began to water as you gave a light giggle. “It’s gone then. The tease?” Lavi nodded against you. Suddenly, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You pulled away slightly and turned your head back. “I’ll have you know that it was I who took care of him.” Komui stood proudly in front of you both with an accomplished grin painted on his face. Lavi chuckled and nodded. “Well… With the help of the others.” Komui pursed his lips and furrowed his brows. “I did most of it!” He whined. You laughed and shook your head. “Oh I bet…”

Suddenly, Komui cleared his throat and straightened out a bit, reaching over and grabbing a clipboard from the steel table. “Now that Lavi is alive and well, I have a mission for you both.” Your expression contorted from pure joy to disbelief. “Seriously?” You said loudly, releasing Lavi. Komui didn’t even hesitate as he handed you the black folders. “You will leave tomorrow morning.” You stared at the folders with rage. “This is ridiculous! We haven’t even had a-,” Komui held up his hand, his glasses gave a threatening glint. “This is not a request…”

He gestured for you to open the folder. Slowly, as you turned the cover, your eyes widened at the bright, burning red that had scarred your eyes before. You slammed the cover shut and glared at him with intensity. “It will be done.” You growled. Lavi shook his head as the letter “N” became clear. “Komui… ______ shouldn’t be-!” Your heavy footsteps interrupted Lavi’s objection. “You will not stop me, Lavi. No one will.” You said firmly, clenching your fist around the black folder.

At the cafeteria, you both ate in silence. Lavi would glance at you, but you only stared down at your food, your eyes burned with anger. “______...” Lavi’s hand inched towards yours. You shook your head and swallowed your bland mashed potatoes. “I’m sorry, but I’m not going to sit here and watch you die. You will not stop me.” You said as you closed your eyes. You waited for the disapproval sigh, but instead you felt yourself being engulfed in warmth. Your eyes widened in shock as Lavi held you against him. “I’m not going to stop you. Not after last time. You saved my ass, ______.” He chuckled slightly and kissed your head. You sighed and shook your head, smirking. “Damn straight…” You muttered.

                                     ****MORNING****

You pulled on your exorcist jacket quickly, Lavi pounding at your door. “Hurry up! The finder is waiting!” He yelled. You slipped on your boots and yanked the door open. “Is too early…” You grumbled, marching down the hallway, Lavi trailing behind. “Where are we supposed to be going anyway?” You asked, pulling out the paper from inside your pocket. “It’s an old ruin outside of… is it Rock Valley..?” You listened to the crumpling of the paper as he flipped it around. “Yeah, Rock Valley.”

You took a swift turn and picked up your pace. He looked up from the paper and quickly ran to catch up. Something caught in your throat, causing you to swallow uncomfortably. “An old ruin..?” Your mind wandered back to the vision back when you were heading back to the Order. He nodded and pulled your sleeve, dragging you to the right hall. “Sorry.” You shook your head and took the lead again. “It says that a man with dark skin was spotted there wreaking havoc. Top hat, nice clothing, slicked back hair…” He trailed off as he gritted his teeth.

You waved your hand in front of him. “Don’t focus on that right now.” He sighed and nodded as you both approached the finder standing at the archway. He waved his hand and stepped into the boat. “Everyone’s here.” The tall man looked back at the others in the boat. “Lavi, _____.”

Allen smiled at the both of you, holding Lenalee’s hand tightly. “Oh, I didn’t know we had company.” You smiled. Suddenly, you felt a cold glare sink into your skin. Your eyes drifted to the end of the boat where Kanda was sitting. “Oh, you’re coming too, Yuu?” He growled and looked away. “Who said you could call me that?” He grumbled. You chuckled lightly as you hopped into the boat. Lavi jumped in right behind you. “Alright, let’s uh… Let’s get this over with…” He sighed.
